The Stevens Point Area YMCA has been learning and growing with area families for many years. We understand the trials that today’s families face, we are aware of their hurdles and obstacles, and we embrace their dreams. We believe that families — regardless of culture, ethnicity, or even socio-economic background — have at least one common hope. Parents want an improved life for their kids, a life with fewer struggles and greater rewards. Our goal at the YMCA is to help parents and families realize that dream by nurturing the full potential of children and teen, by improving the health and well-being of those we touch and by motivating people to support their neighbors and the larger community. Friday, January 18, 2019 • 7:00–10:00PM. Passport to Paradise puts on some Boogie shoes and hits the Disco Floor! Enjoy dinner, live music from the Presidents, costume contest, a raffle and more! Held at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, this event features a new theme every year. Proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Portage County and the Stevens Point Area YMCA youth programs. $25 per person in advance, $35/person at the door. COMMUNITY WEIGHT RACE
We are pleased to announce the return of the popular Community Weight Race program. This 14 week program challenges teams of 3-5 people to compete in losing weight and developing healthier routines for CASH prizes. First weigh-ins and registration take place January 7, 8, 9th. There will also be a Community Weight Race kick-off celebration on January 11th from 5-7pm with make and take snacks, minute-to-win-it games, and materials to get you started from our community supporters. YMCA’s DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM The YMCA’S Diabetes Prevention Program offered through the Stevens Point Area YMCA helps adults at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes reduce their risk through healthy eating and increased physical activity.
LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA is a free small-group fitness program for adult cancer survivors that empowers you to improve your quality of life. Each 12-week session is comprised of classes that meets for 75 minutes, two times per week. Also, you’ll receive a free Y membership for the session’s duration. Class size is limited to 10 participants per session.
