When you think of youth sports, chances are things like soccer, baseball and basketball come to mind. At the Y, we teach a lot more than how to run the bases or make a layup? Y sports are the starting point for many youth to learn about becoming and staying active, and developing a lifetime of healthy habits. The benefits are far greater than just physical health. Whether it is gaining confidence or understanding good sportsmanship and teamwork, participating in sports at the Y is about building the whole child, from the inside out.
Here are the youth sports programs we offer:
The game that was invented at the Y still feels right at home here. Every year, we help hundreds of sharpshooters ages 4 and up find their range. From skills classes for the little ones, to leagues, to private lessons for older kids and teens, our basketball program teaches that the game is about more than the winning shot. It’s about teamwork and the good sportsmanship.
Learn to use your head. (And your chest. And your feet. And…) Y soccer lets kids ages Preschool to Grade 6, learn to dribble, pass, and score in a fun, noncompetitive environment.
Does your child eat, breathe, and sleep sports? Our summer sports camp, held at Roosevelt School in Plover, offers kids ages 6-11 a chance to participate in weekly sports-themed activities that include drills, lessons, and games. Most important, your little athlete will learn the virtues of caring, respect, and responsibility.
And There’s More
