FREE Summer Meals for Kids & Teens 18 & Under

The Stevens Point Area YMCA is pleased to announce their continued participation in the

Summer Meals Program
Tuesday, June 11 – Friday, August 30

which provides free healthy meals during the summer months to young people 18 and under.
The Y will be serving breakfast (8:30-9:30am) and lunch (11:30am-12:30pm)
on a drop-in basis to kids and teens Monday through Friday.

The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), also known as the Summer Meals Program, was established to ensure that
children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session.

More than 26 million children eat school lunch every day when school is in session, and about half of them receive their meals free or at a reduced price. During Summer 2018, Wisconsin served 2.9 million meals at 965 sites operated by 240 sponsoring organizations,” according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

The SFSP is a federally-funded, state-administered program through the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. Public schools, local agencies, and community centers volunteer as site providers to serve meals to kids and teens, 18 and under, when school is out for the summer.
