Beginning the Friday after Thanksgiving, the Y offers fresh fir trees each year, as an annual fundraiser for youth & teen programming at the Stevens Point Area YMCA.
The new leisure pool provided family friendly conditions for recreational open swim, as well as additional space for lap swim, instruction, water exercise, and adapted recreation.

Impressive in scope, this expansion created the Adventure Pool, the current entrance and customer service desk, added parking, administrative offices, meeting space, additional restrooms, the Adventure Alley playroom, the Toy Room, men's and women's locker rooms, and a spacious hallway connecting the rest of the building.
Under the leadership of Dan Newhouse, Executive Director from 1987-2002, the Stevens Point Area YMCA undertook a major expansion project beginning in 1999.
